CLASS DESCRIPTION
This course is designed to provide students with the knowledge of how food fuels their body.  They will learn a balanced approach to eating well, how the body works, and physical activity to improve their health. Topics discussed include: macronutrients, allergies, hydration, superfoods, and the immune system.  Students will have in-class discussions, incorporate cooking/baking, and be introduced to a variety of forms of exercise throughout the course.

The course content is similar for Middle School and High School students, however the instructor will tailor each class so that it is age appropriate.  

Note that the High School course is offered in the Fall only, and the Middle School course is offered in the Spring Only.

TUTOR

​Mrs. Jess Aguirre has been teaching group fitness for 9 years , orking for both the YMCA and the Dan Abraham Healthy Living Center. Mrs. Aguirre has a certification with AFAA, Athletics and Fitness Association of America, and also is certified in many different modalities including Zumba, Strong by Zumba, IndoorRowing, HIIT (High Intensity Interval Training) classes and water aerobics.

Jess has a passion for nutrition and overall health and wellness. Mrs. Aguirre believes that teaching the basics of proper nutrition and wellness can provide students with foundation that they can use as an adult. As the saying goes, "Give a man a fish and you will feed him for a day. Teach him how to fish and you will feed him for his lifetime!"  She is a homeschooling mom of 4 kids and this is her first year of teaching health for PATH.
